I was wondering if I could set my Canon Powershot A570 to take a picture every 10 or so seconds without my having to push the button every time?

Yes, you have Continuous Shooting mode available. You will need to use the Custom Self Timer (not available in Auto Mode). Pages 14-15 of your Basic User Manual explains it…
Make sure you’re using a fast SD card and that your battery is fully charged (or the camera is powered by AC adapter).
And if using the flash, expect longer delays between shots because the flash needs some time to charge.

I googled it and found this comment:
While the shot-to-shot cycle time was above average, continuous mode shooting was a little sluggish, showing the captured image briefly before snapping the next shot if you hold the Shutter button down. This is another situation in which I was glad to have the optical viewfinder. Otherwise, I’d never have been able to compose the shots when working in continuous shooting mode.
So you can’t do what you want to like Ricky B said. Your last hope is to RTFM (read the manual). Good luck.

There is a continuous shooting mode, however you have to hold down the shutter the whole time. So, if you wanted to just leave it somewhere, then your answer is no.
