   Most P&S cameras are not well suited for using selective focus.
   The A590, however, you can shoot with the camera in the aperture priority mode. If you shoot with the cameras lens wide open, you may have a chance, however with such a small sensor, the camera will produce a larger depth of field than a camera with a larger sensor .. like a DSLR … 15 times larger
