Following on from my previous article, where I was providing short overviews of the movers and shakers in the mobile phone market this Christmas, we’ll now turn our attention to the remaining three of my five top picks for the end of this year.Apple iPhone (8gb exclusive to O2)

Apple’s prestige in computing and the music world through its iPod seems to have translated well in the mobile phones industry.

Despite iPhone’s specifications drawing some fire for being a bit behind the times, with a 2 megapixel camera compared to the 3.2, or even 5 megapixels other mobile phones bring to the party – and no 3G data – it still holds its own with an innovative touch screen interface.

It also doubles up as one of the most ubiquitous MP3 players in recent times, the iPod. Featuring the latest version of the iPod MP3 player means that the user-unfriendly media functions of other mobile phones are dwarfed by this phone.

The iPhone has other quirky features such as dimming the backlight if it detects the user has the phone to their face in a call and being able to watch videos in widescreen on its 3.5in screen by simply holding the phone sideways.

While in no way perfect, the iPhone is a very stylish and credible mobile phone which many people will find appealing.LG KU990 Viewty (All networks)

The LG “Viewty”, much like it’s other similarly crazily-named models – Shine, Slide, Chocolate?! – is drop dead gorgeous. The design is in league with the iPhone, adopting a large touch screen in favour of keypads and slim design.

Many people are hailing this phone as what the iPhone should have been, with a 5 megapixel camera and even DivX video playback.

It looks so similar to the iPhone that it could be its twin. As well as this, the camera’s video function has an interesting and potentially hilarious addition in that it can shoot videos at 120fps, meaning that when played back you get perfect slow motion playback.

The phone also can take MicroSD memory cards which are fast becoming the industry standard with sizes up to 8Gb for photos, music and videos.

With only a few years in the industry under its belt, LG has fast made an impression. Its mobile phones are designed specifically to the style-conscious, so much so that Prada lent its name for one of the earlier iterations of this model. With its perfect balance of style and substance, the future of LG in the mobile industry seems positive.SonyEricsson K850i (O2, Orange)

SonyEricsson has always been at a slight advantage in the mobile market. Being derived from two equally successful technology firms, Sony and Ericsson, it has had a lot of experience to draw upon.

This has been evident in its line of Walkman phones of late, as well as Cybershot from which this handset is the latest version of.

The K850i is, like most other handsets a 5 megapixel camera phone, so the pictures are guaranteed to be top quality. It also possesses both Xenon and LED flash as well as a BestPic function, so there need never be a bad photo again.

Whilst not strictly a Walkman phone, it still functions competently as an MP3 player, with the ability to download podcasts as well helped by high speed HSDPA data rates. Like most of the other mobiles in these articles, it is a fully functional 3G mobile phone with a pinhole camera on the front of the phone for video calls.

The keypad, whilst inventive, has received mixed reviews with some people claiming the keys are too small and the directional pad embedded in the number pad a bit awkward. Despite this the phone is still attractive coming in two colour ways: black with luminous green and black/silver with velvet blue.

So this is just a selection of the many feature packed mobile phones on offer on pay-monthly and pay as you go mobile phone tariffs.

Now more than ever, mobile owners are able to get great deals on devices that replace many of our old MP3 players, and digital cameras, as well as our mobile phones.

With many phones part of cashback offers too, now is as good a time as any to upgrade to a new mobile. So treat yourself this Christmas and check out the many mobile phone deals on offer!

Five Ways Digital Cameras Beat Film

posted by Sony-Cybershot
Sep 30

The majority of camera enthusiasts nowadays have a digital camera and are very impressed with what they can do and the quality of the photographs that they can take with them. There are however, a few people who believe that film will always have the advantage over digital but there are so many reasons why we have seen the demise of film, here are just a few; Cost: It has to be said that digital cameras aren’t the cheapest of things to buy, at an average of around £80 for a decent digital camera compared to just £6.99 for a single use camera, it’s no wonder that some people don’t want to splash out. The thing is that it is actually cheaper to invest in a digital camera. This is because the cost of getting your photographs developed at the local pharmacy really mounts up in the end, not to mention spending out on new single use cameras or film. It is much more cost effective to take your photos with a digital camera and then you have the option of whether you want to print them at home, keep them on your computer or even show them off on a digital photo frame. Instant Viewing Pleasure: Another benefit of digital cameras is that they enable you to see the photo you have taken instantly and if you are not happy with it (who is?) then you can rectify any photography related mistakes made there and then. In the industry, glancing at the screen after each shot is known as ‘chimping’ and there are some people who hate this practice. However, there are others who believe that this enables people to learn photography skills and practices a lot quicker as they are learning from their mistakes instantly. When shopping for a new digital camera, it is well-worth keeping in mind that different shops offer different deals, meaning that, for example, the same Canon digital camera can significantly vary in price depending on what shop you go in.

A huge benefit of digital cameras is that you can view the image you have just taken instantly thanks to the LCD screen that’s on the camera. Make sure that when you are shopping for a new digital camera that you compare the prices in different shops, because for example, the same Canon digital camera can vary in cost depending on which shop you go in.

Whether this is your first camera, or you’re looking for a great camera to use professionally, Canon Point and Shoot Digital Cameras are a great choice. They are chosen by more photographers when purchasing new cameras or upgrading from current ones.
A Canon Point and Shoot Digital camera is easy to use for both amateurs and professionals alike. They are versatile and very reliable. The quality of the pictures these cameras take are comparable to higher priced cameras.
Each Canon camera comes with it’s own special characteristics and features, but are all alike, they operate in a similar fashion. Before purchasing a camera, it is recommended to do some research into them to determine what type of Point and Shoot camera you will need.
Some Canon Point and Shoot Digital cameras use SD memory cards, others micro SD cards, and yet some others use Compact Flash cards. When purchasing your first camera, you need to choose which memory card you’d be wanting to use should you purchase a subsequent Digital Camera from Canon.
Some Canon Point and Shoot Digital cameras use 4 regular AA batteries, others use less, or even rely on a special battery pack. This is also something to research before purchasing a camera to decide what will be cost effective in the long run.
If you’re an amateur photographer, it’s best to start with a basic Point and Shoot, something without a lot of features. Buying a camera with more features than you’re going to use is pointless, and will just aid in confusing you when you start using the camera.
A basic Canon Point and Shoot Digital Camera such as the PowerShot A470 will run you about $100. This camera is light weight, easy to use, and is great for an amateur photographer. This basic camera weighs only a pound and is quite compact.
If you’re looking for a higher quality camera, it will cost a little more, depending on what you’re looking for. However, the higher priced cameras may come with more features, and better quality images. However, higher price doesn’t always necessarily mean higher quality.
Depending on what you’re looking to do, whether amateur or professional, it’s always good to look for camera kits to help you save money. Buying a kit will usually save you money in both the short and long run. Look for kits that contain memory cards, batteries, and a case. Rechargeable batteries are better for the environment, and although expensive initially, will save you money in the future.
When shopping around for a low priced camera, always look for the benefits of lower priced ones. Compare prices with features, capabilities, additional expenses and whatnot. Sometimes you’ll find a lower priced camera to be as good, if not better than a camera that is of a higher price.
A Canon Point and Shoot Digital Camera is a great investment for any photographer, amateur, professional or even in between. Digital cameras are by far, superior to any film camera.

Technology doesn’t wait for anyone, it takes its own course to evolve in to a different form. In many such instances, sudden uproar of change has given way exceptional developments that defied every advancement happened till to that time. So, if it took a long time to shift from the traditional film cameras to the newer digital, in the breath of just couple of years, you find a large number of people going for the way of mega pixel and opting more for the Professional digital SLR cameras.

Evidently, companies too have waged war against the other in dishing out astounding samples of technological wonders – just in the name of digital cameras

It’s important to look for sites that offer technology reviews with dedicated sections on digital camera. They can be especially helpful on occasions where you want to purchase a professional digital camera but confused by the inundating options available.

The Sony Ericsson C903 and the Sony Ericsson C901 are both very alike cell phones so the choice might come down which is the most fashionable. The C901 is a Cyber-shot 5-megapixel camera with Xenon Flash for better indoor photos. Likewise, the C903 is a good imaging phone, but like the C903 it lacks WiFi connectivity. Sony is a respected maker of cameras and this knowledge comes out in their camera phones. Both the C901 and C903 have auto focus, video stabilizer, image stabilizer, face detection, smile detection and digital zoom. The C901 is square shaped chocolate weighing only 107 grams and is a pocket sized 4.13 x 1.77 x 0.51 inches. The battery is a Li-Polymer 950mAH which gives 9.5 hours of talk time and 430 hours or 18 days of stand-by time. The main displays resolution is 240 x 320 pixels. There is video and music player as well as an FM radio with RDS. An alarm, calendar, calculator, ‘to-do’ list, stopwatch, time and notes are built-in. Stereo Bluetooth 2.0 almost makes up for the lack of WiFi connectivity. Email is IMAP, POP3, SMTP and Microsoft Exchange capable. Internet access is via the NetFront Browser. Support for Geo-tagging of pictures, Google maps and YouTube upload function. The C901 comes in Noble Black, Sincere Silver and Precious Peach. This phone has Xenon flash.Other than lacking the Xenon flash the C903 is much like the C901. A little smaller at 96.0 grams and 3.4 ounces it’s also a bit shorter at 3.8 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches. TrackID helps a music enthusiast by identifying a song’s title and artist then offering a link. Animated wallpaper looks best with this phone’s pixel count. It has aGPS as with the C901 which not only makes getting lost much harder with the Google Maps or Wayfinder Navigator to help find the way, Geo tagging photos with info on where they’re being taken is also possible. Walk Mate a step counter comes preloaded. Both phones share PlayNow which gives access to a virtual shop where a wide selection of music, ring tones, over 250 games, wallpaper and graphics. These phones are both adaptable for use with blogging with video recording, and video stabilizer. The Sony Ericsson C903 Cybershot and the Sony Ericsson C901 are again very similar except in appearance. The C901 is a solid, classic looking cell no one would be surprised to see James Bond whip out of a dinner jacket pocket to make a top secret call with while the C903 is a bit more freewheeling. The C903 also has the benefit of being a slider so the keys are protected and there are fewer accidental calls made from deep inside the depths of a pocket or handbag. However, the biggest difference is the color. The C903 is available in Glamour Red, Lacquer Black and Techno White. While this might seem a small difference the Glamour Red, especially is an exciting stand out. The C903 works the same as the C901, but just edges its fellow Sony product out by nature of color appeal.
