I am planning to buy a Cannon Powershot SD8701IS 8MP digitial camera. Is it compatible with Sony memory stick PRO Duo (MSX-M2GS)? Thanks in advance!

No, Sony’s memory stick doesn’t fit!
Instead, look for a type of memory called “Secure Digital” or SD for short.
SD memory is made by many companies. I like the SanDisk Extreme III or SanDisk Ultra II SD memory.
The SD870 IS by Canon uses SD memory.

  2. What? says:

Sony’s proprietary Memory Stick isn’t very popular so the format usually stays within its own products. Canon Powershot cameras usually use SD (Secure Digital) memory cards and your particular camera supports MMC (multimedia card) and the higher-speed/capacity variants as well.
