Canon Powershot SD1100 IS is 8MP.
Canon Powershot SD950 is 12MP.
Their reviews are both good, however the 8MP seems to be the people’s choice. Why? It has less MP. Of course, MP isn’t what determines the better camera, but I’m confused as to why the 1100 has less MP. Is the 1100 currently the best one? So many sites say different things (probably due to date differences). Thank you.

Both cameras are very similar. The SD1100 is the cheapest and have only 8Mp and a 3X optical zoom. The SD850 is a 8 Mp with a 4X zoom. The SD950 is the most expensive with 12 Mp and a 3.6X zoom. I personnally would choose the SD850, because 8Mp is plenty, unless you plan to print huge posters with it. The image quality is very good in most conditions and the macro capabilities are superb. If you have more money to spend, then I would get the SD950, it is the top of the line of the digital Elph series but the image quality is very similar to the SD850. It is mostly a question of megapixel and budget. Once again, my pick is the SD850,you have not mentioned but it is a better choice until & unless you want large prints!
SD1100 IS also performs similar but people love it because of its ease of use & compactness as it is a bit lighter!
Go for SD950 or SD850 depending on your budget dont get confused with the reviews!!!!
The best and newest one is the one that gets released the day after you buy your new one. This is a big game that will never end.
