I need to download pictures from my canon powershot sd1000 camera to my laptop which runs windows 2000. I searched canons website…but they don’t have any drivers. The camera stores the pictures on a SD card.
Any ideas ?

Canon usually supplies a USB cable with their cameras. It’s usually a special cable with a standard USB connector on one end (for your PC) and a special tiny connector on the other end that plugs into your camera. I lost mine and was able to buy one on line for about $10.
You need to put the camera into the “view” mode instead of the “shoot” mode, turn the power on, connect the cable, and launch the correct software on the PC.
newer PCs will automatically start the correct software for most cameras. If that doesn’t happen, you will have to download the correct software from Canon’s web site.
An alternative course is to buy a card reader and use that to read the memory card from the camera. Again, you may need to install software.
