My digital camera came with a USB cable. However, when I plug it in, the computer makes a sound letting me know a device has been attached, but nothing pops up. I do not already have the program installed, so what do I do?

I bought a digital memory card reader, which is better and safer than using the USB cable. It’s compact, portable, and easy to use. All you do is put your camera’s memory card into this device and plug the device into the USB port of your computer, then something on your computer should come up that says if you want to review the pics. This method states that there is no driver installation that is required. It operates with Windows 98, 98SE, 2000, ME, XP and MAC OS 9 or later.
same thing happens to my camera . Thats why i go to my friends house and it works on his computer and i dont even need to install the program. If i were u ill install the program by inserting the cd your camera came with or you could do start > control panel > printers & other hardware > scanners & cameras and than just click on Add an imaging device which should be on the top left corner.
put your memory card in the slot, then it something should pop up and ask what you want to do with the device, then click copy files to computer, i have a cybershot and thats how i do it. hope it helps. :]
