Thats why i go to my friends house and it works on his computer and i dont even need to install the program. If i were u ill install the program by inserting the cd your camera came with or you could do start > control panel > printers & other hardware > scanners & cameras and than just click on Add an imaging device which should be on the top left corner. same thing happens to my camera .
