Go with the most memory you can afford to buy. Unless you can’t afford it, there is no reason why not. With current prices, the cost difference should be around $10. Cheaper buying a 2 Gig that paying for two separate 1 Gig cards.
It all depends on what resolution you have the camera set. In other words, are you shooting the largest, least compressed JPGs, or the smallest, highest compressed JPGs. This can make a difference of HUNDREDS of photo capability on any given card size. The best thing to do is ALWAYS shoot at the largest, highest quality settings you can do with the camera and use the largest capacity memory card the camera will accept. A 2 gig card costs little more than a 1 gig, no reason to skimp here. Buy name brand cards. Sandisk and Lexar are always good quality. DO NOT buy cards from Ebay. There is a HUGE conterfiet market in memory cards in China. The cards look EXACTLY like the major names such as Sandisk, but they are far inferior. Buy only from reputable dealers.
500 to 600
I only buy 2 GB anymore…They do hold alot but I take alot…You can buy them pretty cheap now for less than $20 and I can use them in my digital photo frame. I guess it depends on you though..If you want to only use one for one event or subject ,,,maybe buy 2 seperate 1GB .. I get over 1000 pictures on my canon but I do not use the most megibites ..They all look good on the computer though..and than I just have slideshow after I edit them…
the only good thing about having less ,,is if you accidently erase them or lose the SD card,,which I have done twice and still cry over….It was a good friends wedding and the other time was a trip to Vegas with my friends..Both PRECIOUS MOMENTS left only in my memories now….
