I have a SX20 IS and would like to know how to take long exposure shots at sunset. It works at night, but at sunset, it is too bright and the photo turns out completely white.
I prefer to use Manual (M) mode, because I can change Aperture and Shutter speed

I’m not sure why you want to take a long exposure of a sunset. It really won’t accomplish anything. Even with the lens completely stopped down is not possible, without a neutral density filter. If you want the foreground more illuminated, take a couple different exposures and combine them.
