My husband just suprised me with a new digital camera. I really love it, but if my subject is in motion it seems sensitive to that and will come out blurry. Is there a setting that works better for things that are in motion?

Your camera doesn’t have a sports or action scene mode, but you can either use the M (manual mode) to select a faster shutter speed. Try 1/250 sec and up to freeze the action.
You can also pre-focus first on your subject (follow them with your camera) then take the shot (panning).
You can also use continuous shooting mode (if your camera has it).
