I have a Canon PowerShot A610 and a cheapo card writer that i got for under $10 at Wal-Mart. I tried to transfer the files to the card and that worked fine. But when I put the card into the camera, they aren’t picked up. There were files on the card but my camera went into low-power mode and they got erased. Did I need the folders on the camera to view the files? Can I get them back? I have a presentation to do on my photography and I was hoping to hook my camera up to the television to show my photos. Is there a way to fix this?

The camera will only read files/pictures that it took. If you edit these files or if you try to use the camera as a photo viewer (of fotos it did not take), it will not work.
I dont think the files were erased. They should still be in the memory stick. But for your presentation, I suggest you use a laptop/notebook.

perhaps the pictures are not able to be read on the camera
(most likely pictures that were not taken on the camera will not work)

Did you put the files in the same folder as the other pics and did they have their original file names?

yes, but most cases it can’t read those edited picture from your pc but it is not harmful to your units.
