   Call Sony. (Look up customer service on internet … it’s the 800 number)…. They will tell you instantly.

   In some modes, such as the “scenery” mode (the mountains), the flash can not be turned on because it won’t do you any good anyhow. Choose a different mode until you find one that allows the flash to be used.
   Check your manual for the settings on different modes.

   set to defaut then reset to auto it will cycle on and off when you need it

   it all depends what mode you have it in.
   take it out of automatic mode.
