It’s true this camera comes with all sorts of bells and whistles, but the bottom line is picture quality. It’s 12 MP can’t compare with my previous Fuji that’s 4 years old with 6 MP. Every picture that comes out of this Panasonic needs to be edited for improved clarity and sharpness. It’s not an optional step, it’s a necessary step unfortunately.
It’s one good feature is the 29 mm wide angle lens. Also the LCD screen is large and bright and easy to use. . . that is if you don’t mind the lack of a viewfinder. A camera with a viewfinder gives inherently better pictures because you are bracing the camera against your face when shooting and this stability makes a big difference in picture quality. Aside from lackluster pictures, my biggest complaint about this camera is that the battery must actually be removed from the camera in order to charge it. This is a totally unnecessary hassle. Panasonic does sell an ac adapter but I am unable to find out if the adapter is solely for use in taking pictures or if it will charge the battery also. One last problem is that there is some contradictory and unclear information in the user manual. I’ve been trying to contact Panasonic tech support since I received the camera, but apparently their contact page is just for show as they ignore tech support questions completetly. Truthfully I am very dissapointed with this camera and would not purchase it over again. (If my 4 year old Fuji 810 was still available, I’d buy another in a minute. ) If you want a small wide angle cheap camera for unimportant snapshots, then buy this camera. For anything more serious, keep looking.

My camera freezes the same way a computer does. The picture on the screen is frozen, the lens is blocked. out of course. And the camera can not be turned off.
This only happens, when the battery gets low. Replacing the battery and resetting the thing fixes the problem.
Thing is I don’t carry a spare batt. all the time.
I am moving to Switzerland in two days, so I did not contacted customer support.

I really like that it was small enough to not take up too much room in my purse. Most importantly, it takes really good pictures and easy to use! The battery lasts a good long time because it has a feature that automatically shuts it down to power save if you forget to turn it off.

This is a great point and shoot camera. If you are looking for good quality pictures with the ease of pushing a button, this is for you! It does have some manual settings you can use for special pictures. I have tried some of those but not all of them. I like the AF tracking, especially since I have kids that can’t always stand still. I have taken pictures of moving things and they are as clear as the still pictures. I have yet to see a blurred picture! Great camera and features for the money. I researched awhile before purchasing. I could not be happier.

I purchased this camera to take with me on bike trips and hikes. My digital SLR is just too large for that purpose. I did a lot of online research and came to the conclusion that this was the best reasonably priced point and shoot camera. It does just what I want it to do. It takes excellent pictures and is small enough to put in a pocket. The menus are not intuitive and require some adjustments. This is a great camera if you use it for its intended use. Don’t expect digital SLR quality, but you will still get excellent pictures.
