I can’t take a picture of my kids for nothing they are fast. My the time I take pic the kids are out of the room!

    Not much but to fool the camera. Your camera has neither aperture nor shutter speed priority modes. Your other problem is you are attempting to shoot your kids in much lower light than if you shot outside.
    What you are describing is called shutter lag … nearly all P&S cameras have some, from around 0.4 to 3 seconds, depending upon whether your camera can focus quickly or if you are using flash. Only DSLR’s have shutter lag that is measured in millisecondshttp://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_…
