im going to be taking some pictures for my friends band, and their doing a concert at night, and there will be minimal lighting. i have a canon powershot s5 IS and was wondering what setting i should put it on. b/c the sports one is for moving peole [like a band would do] and the night one uses the flash, but doesnt capture moving objects very well. so i guess i’m looking for one that uses the flash AND can capture moving objects really well.

First off, I’m jealous of your camera! I’m looking into an S5IS. You can use the flash on sports setting. It’s a manual flash, if I remember correctly. The sports setting will tell you when to lift the flash.
increasing the iso will make the shutter speed faster, making it easier to capture moving objects in those lighting conditions, but the noise increase will be noticeable. You need to figure out early on how much light is available and adjust your settings accordingly.
