I have several different’ picture editing softwares, as I have other camera’s. I can’t get it to even acknowledge that the camera is plugged up. I tried to download drivers for the camera and that was no help.

Buy a card reader and see if that does the trick. You plug the card reader into a USB port on your computer, and then put the card into the card reader. That is the way I do it with mine. I never go through my camera. I never even installed the CD that came with it. By doing it this way, you will save on your batteries, too.
If you get a card reader that accommodates all kinds of cards, you can use it for any other camera you have now or get in the future.
