   The first thing I recommend you do, is to download and save the SX10′s User Guide from the Canon link below. That way you will be able to learn how to fully use your camera.
   You will need an SD or SDHC (high capacity SD) memory card. I recommend a fast card like the excellent Sandisk Extreme III in 4GB SDHC. Make sure you Format your memory card (in the camera’s Menu) before you use it the first time and whenever you need to delete all images from it in one go.

   I am surprised your user guide does not tell you.
   Have you opened it and looked?
   It should say, “SD/SDHC card”
