I’m afraid of little bugs and stuff, can I keep it in an airtight container, one of those lock and lock plastic things that are waterproof? Keep it inside a fabric camera bag or what? I want to have it working good for the longest time, how should one store cameras away? Thanks.

I would think the plastic container MIGHT be ok –it would certainly keep “bugs” and dust out. However, it wouldn’t be good if it is exposed to temperature extremes. You don’t want any condensation. Humidity/mosture and temp extremes are baaaaddd! Avoid basements, kitchens, bathrooms, etc. A closet is better.
I would remove batteries, cover the lens, put it in it’s camera bag before storing, and be sure it is located where it won’t fall or get knocked around too much.
