This camera was released December 2007, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see a price drop this holiday season, though due to the fact that it has 4GB storage on board, I am not sure how much it will come down before it just is removed for a newer model (DSC-T300).
Whatever camera you choose, I suggest you get it with enough lead time so that you can get used to using it, and know its features well before you head off to Europe (also be sure to have an adapter to charge it during your trip).
