So I really want a Canon camera. I already have a very reliable small digital and would like to get a larger, more professional camera and the cameras I’m looking into seem to do me justice. I just need to find a great price. Your input on the camera is also appreciated.

The Powershot SX1 IS and SX10 IS are nothing at all like professional cameras. They are just basically point & shoot, super zoom cameras…nothing more.
In their favour, both cameras have an excellent 20x optical zoom and full manual controls. They also record video in stereo (the SX1 IS can record in Full HD).
However, the SX10 IS has better image quality (and less noise) than the more expensive, SX1 IS (which is overpriced).
So, I recommend the SX10 IS…you need to shop around for the best price.

The cheapest i’ve ever seen those cameras is $800
you just need to keep looking if they go on sale
