Well have you went to Amazon and checked out the reviews? If you have not then you need to. Just check out the reviews on the Canon Powershot and you will know the Sony is not as good. I hope this helps you!
The powershot SX20 IS had the better optics – at the extremes the Sony HX1 suffers a little more purple fringing. However the HX1 shoots better video, has better low light capability, some interesting special modes, and is ususally cheaper.
